Description: 'Bodensee' is a classic 'mophead' Hydrangea bred in the 1950's but still as popular and reliable today. It is fairly compact and very floriferous with blooms from early summer to September. In acid soils the flowers emerge a medium blue with a yellowish centre gradually turning to pure blue. (in alkaline soils the colour will be pink).
Flowering time: June to September
Foliage: Deciduous
Size: Height and spread up to 1.2m
Position: Will thrive best in partial or dappled shade Soil: Moist, well drained.
Pruning: Little needed. Cutting stems back in winter will remove next seasons flower buds so best avoided. Can cut off dead flowers down to the next leaf buds.
